Forest Fungi Working Group

Thie working group on forest fungi in Ireland was brought together to promote fungi as a natural resource in the forests and woodlands of Ireland. 

This website was initiated by the Group with support and funding from COFORD (The Council for Forest Research in Ireland). Its goals are to  promote an interest in and advance the knowledge and conservation of fungi in Ireland. Our target audience is anyone with an interest in fungi, including the general public, amateur and professional biologists and naturalists, foresters, mycologists, and mycophagists.

Other activities and projects include:

 

  • producing a book to inform people of the different types of fungi in the forests
  • performing a national survey on the occurence of fungi in woodland throughout Ireland
  • promoting the exploration of fungi as a leisure interest
  • compiling and mainting this website
