Code of conduct

Always seek the permission of the landowner before you enter the land  and explain the purpose of your visit.

Try to avoid damage to vegetation, soil and leaf litter and environs.

Only remove deadwood if it is necessary to identify a fungus.

Bring a field guide with you to help you to identify a fungus in situ.

Do not collect species that you do not intend to eat.

Only collect from plentiful growth.  It is recommended in most European countries that you pick no more than 1.5kg per visit or no more than half the fruit bodies of any single species present, whichever is the lower amount.

Respect and protect other species including poisonous species.

Try to return discarded fungi to the collection area inorder to spread the   spores.

Use baskets, mesh bags etc rather than plastic bags to help spread the spores while collecting.
