2009 Spring - Morels and St George's mushrooms |
|
This spring has been one of the wetest on record. We were glad to receive reports of morels and st george's mushrooms from different parts of the country including Galway, Cavan and Wicklow. Both of these mushrooms are quite easy to identify and good to eat. Interestingly some people believe that morels develop more flavour when exposed to sunny conditions. On that basis I don't expect this years crop to be too tasty.
Also, keep in mind that morels need to be well cooked or they can cause stomach upsets. St George's mushroom
